Victim Stabbed in Early Morning Robbery on Rutgers New Brunswick Campus

The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating a robbery that was reported to have occurred Thursday morning  at approximately 1:29 a.m. near the intersection of French Street  and Prospect Street in New Brunswick

According to Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop, the victim, who is not affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that he was outside a local establishment when three suspects approached and demanded items of value from him.  

During a brief altercation, Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop said one of the perpetrators slashed the victim’s arm with a knife.  

The suspects then took personal possessions then fled on foot from the scene.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop said the description of the suspects are limited at this time.

The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time contact the NBPD’s Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
