Victim Stabbed in Downtown Newark Seeks Help at Police Station; Critical Injuries

Authorities in Newark are investigating a disturbing early morning incident where a man critically wounded from a stabbing sought assistance at the Newark Police Department's 9th Precinct Substation, officials reported.

NINO The incident took place today (Sunday), marking a violent start to the day in the city's downtown area.

At around 6:21 a.m., the injured man arrived at the precinct located at 189 Market Street, according to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

The victim, who has not been named, reportedly engaged in an altercation with another male on the 700 block of Broad Street, which resulted in him being stabbed.

He suffered a large laceration to his neck. 

Following the incident, the victim was quickly transported to University Hospital, where Director Frage said he is in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation and the events leading up to the stabbing are still being pieced together by investigators.

 The incident remains under active investigation, with law enforcement officials calling on the public for any information that might lead to a better understanding of the altercation and the identification of the assailant.

As of now, no further details have been released regarding the suspect or the sequence of events that led to this violent encounter.

The Newark Public Safety Department urges anyone with information to come forward, as they continue to work towards maintaining the safety and security of all Newark residents.
