Victim in Fatal Edison Fire Identified

Middlesex County officials announced today that the victim of a residential fire has been identified.

According to county officials, on December 30, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m., authorities responded to a residence on Plainfield Avenue in Edison Township following a report of a structure fire. 

County officials said that upon their arrival, first responders located Dorbin Armstrong, 77, of Edison inside the residence. Armstrong was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. 

No firefighters or police officers were injured.

While the investigation is ongoing, a preliminary investigation indicates that the fire is not suspicious in nature and foul play is not suspected.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is active and continuing.
