Vehicle Wanted for NYC Homicide Engages in Newark Police Pursuit

A vehicle occupied by suspects who were suspected of committing a murder in NYC, lead police on a 'cat and mouse' pursuit in and out of Newark on Friday evening.

According to police, at around 5:40 p.m. a 'be on the lookout/ was issued for a black 2015Dodge Charger with a reported NJ licenses plate number 'Z87-KSZ' that was reported stolen out of Jersey City and wanted for a homicide in New York during the week.

Newark Police officers on routine patrol in the vicinity of 1st and Orange streets spotted the car and attempted to pull it over when the driver ignored officer's lights and sirens then barrelled down several city streets at high rates of speeds according to reports.

With Newark Police units following close by, the driver of the suspected vehicle made his way onto the westbound lanes of I-280 where the car reached speeds over 100 mph before making it to the vicinity of Central and Evergreen in East Orange reports said.

Police lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Harrison and Melrose Avenue in the city of East Orange.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., Police spotted the vehicle and began a pursuit in the area of Route 1&9 south in Newark.

The driver sped away from police and remain at-large.

There were no injuries reported during the pursuits.
