Vehicle Struck by Bullets After Gunfire Erupts in Newark's South Ward

A ShotSpotter activation alerted police of multiple gunshots in a neighborhood in Newark's South Ward Friday on evening.

According to police, at approximately 7 p.m., gunfire rang out in the 200 block of Pamona Avene, sending officers to the scene to investigate.

Upon arrival, units found nearly a dozen shell casings on the ground and a car damaged by bullets at that location.

Police say the vehicle was parked with no occupants inside.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at-large. No injuries reported.
