Vehicle Stop Yields Arrest, Weapons in Newark

Police in Newark took a male suspect in custody after a motor vehicle stop that had cops locate a weapon.

Officers from the NJ State Police and Newark Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle in the city's Central Ward when the vehicle refused to stop according to reports.

Police followed the vehicle though several neighborhoods until they were ultimately able to catch up with the vehicle in the area of Springfield Avenue near Hayes Street shortly before 1 a.m.

Police took the suspect into custody after they recovered a loaded weapon according to reports.

The incident is under investigation.
