Vehicle Stop Leads to Weapons, Narcotics Arrest in Cranford

A motor vehicle stop on Centennial Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. had authorities arresting three people for drugs and possession of a weapon.  

Taken into custody was Jessica Disano, 20, Union NJ  Kiwan Cirino,19, East Orange NJ,  Justin Williams, 20, Paterson NJ  when police pulled over 1989 Acura by Det. Spencer Durkin and Patrolman Brian Trotter on Centennial Avenue for inspection sticker and seatbelt violations.  

Police said during an investigation at the scene, over 60 packages of suspected heroin were located on the person of a passenger identified as Williams.  Authorities said Det. Durkin also located a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle.  The firearm was loaded with hollow point bullets and had the serial number defaced police said.  

All vehicle occupants were arrested for weapons offenses and processed at Cranford Police Headquarters.  Williams was also charged with drug possession with intent to distribute and failure to wear a seatbelt.  The driver, Disano, was also cited for failure to inspect a vehicle and failure to exhibit a registration or insurance card.  Bail was set for each at $50,000 and a first court appearance was scheduled for 1/28/2015 in Superior Court. 

 Disano was released on bail; Williams and Cirino were committed to the Union County Jail pending court.
