A vehicle stolen outside a local business in Maplewood has initiated an investigation.
Township officers were alerted to the incident, which took place in the parking lot of the Wawa on Springfield Avenue at approximately 4 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers were informed that the owner had left their Honda Transport running unattended when an opportunistic thief seized the moment, jumped into the vehicle, and quickly drove away.
The Maplewood Police Department is actively investigating the incident and working to locate the stolen vehicle.
Anyone with information regarding this theft is urged to come forward and assist law enforcement.
UPDATE: A vehicle of this type was reportedly recovered by Newark Police within their city limits around 5:22 a.m.
