A vehicle stolen with the keys inside the ignition from a community in Rutherford was last observed traveling around the city limits of Newark on Sunday.
According to authorities, thieves scoped out then stole a vehicle from a location in Rutherford that was reportedly left unoccupied with the engine running before 11 a.m.
Newark Police spotted the brown 2018 BMW X1 SUV in the vicinity of Bergen near 12th Avenue and Newark's North Ward occupied by several males.
The vehicle had a reported custom NJ license plate number "1HAIR".
It is not immediately known if the car was recovered and the incident remains under investigation.
