Police in Wayne are investigating a serious crash that occurred late Thursday night and left one person hospitalized after a van overturned on Route 23 South.
According to preliminary reports, the crash took place around 11:20 p.m. near the entrance to Tommy’s Tavern. 
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a vehicle rollover with occupants possibly trapped inside.
Authorities said the van rolled over multiple times before coming to rest in the parking lot of the restaurant.
Wayne Fire Department rescue crews and EMS personnel extricated the victim, who was trapped inside the vehicle.
The individual was then transported to a nearby hospital and is reportedly in serious condition.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by Wayne Police.
