New Jersey’s annual USDA Foods Conference drew more than 675 attendees to the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, bringing together school nutrition leaders, students, processors, and state officials to discuss the future of school meals.
The information was provided by the New Jersey Department of Health and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.
This year’s event showcased presentations from 45 State-approved processors and included participation from over 85 students from nine school districts.
Attendees received updates on the newest USDA Foods options planned for the 2026–2027 school year.
A key focus of the General Session was the introduction of the new Food Distribution Management System, a platform aimed at streamlining food allocation and improving service for school food authorities preparing for next year’s diversion decisions.
Participants also visited the Processor Exhibits, where they sampled new products and explored menu options designed to enhance school meals.
Students took part in a growing session that introduced them to New Jersey’s Child Nutrition Programs and gave them an opportunity to explore vendors and share direct feedback.

State officials said the conference continues to strengthen collaboration and innovation across New Jersey’s school nutrition community, helping shape healthier and more efficient meal programs statewide.
