Members of the U.S. Marshals Service District of New Jersey and the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended a fugitive in Ocean County last week who was wanted on violent charges out of North Carolina, authorities announced.

Vincent Nelson, 55, was taken into custody without incident on May 15 in Bayville following a coordinated investigation involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Authorities said Nelson was wanted on charges connected to an aggravated assault on law enforcement involving a vehicle in Asheville, along with weapons-related offenses in New Jersey.

According to officials, members of the fugitive task force located Nelson in Bayville and safely carried out the arrest without injuries to officers, the suspect, or members of the public.

Following his arrest, Nelson was transported to the Ocean County Jail for processing.

He is expected to face extradition proceedings related to the North Carolina charges in addition to pending matters in New Jersey.
