The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning.
According to a statement released by The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to a residence on Steward Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.
Authorities say police forced entry into the secured home to find both a male and female stabbed.
The female victim, in her thirties, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim, in his thirties, was transported to the hospital in critical condition according to officials.
Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community at this time according to the statement released by The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
The homicide remains under investigation.
