UPDATE: Woman Charged with Attempted Murder for Allegedly Stabbing 71-Year-Old Woman in Woodland Park

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Woodland Park Police Chief Eileen Tiernan announced that based upon an investigation by the Woodland Park Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, arrested Mrs. Judith Wysocki, 70, from Woodland Park, in relation to an investigation into a stabbing that took place on Wednesday, in Woodland Park.

According to police, On August 14, 2019, members of the Woodland Park Police Department responded to a residential address in Woodland Park, NJ, on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located a 71-year old Woodland Park resident who had sustained a non-fatal stab wound.

Passaic County officials say Mrs. Wysocki is charged with Attempted Murder, First Degree, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Third Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Fourth Degree and Neglect of an Elderly or Disabled Person, Third Degree.

The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. Based on the investigation, Mrs. Wysocki was identified as the perpetrator and arrested on scene according to police.

The sentencing exposure for Mrs. Wysocki on First Degree Attempted Murder is 10-20 years New Jersey State Prison with 85% of those terms to be served before parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act and 5 years parole supervision; on Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose it is 3-5 years New Jersey State Prison; on Unlawful Possession of a Weapon 18 months New Jersey State Prison, and as to the Neglect of an Elderly or Disabled Person, it is 3-5 years New Jersey State Prison.

Mrs. Wysocki is currently in the custody of the Passaic County Jail.

The State intends to file a motion for pretrial detention in this matter that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
