Update: Wendy's Restaurant in Elizabeth Robbed at Gunpoint

Elizabeth

Police are looking for the man who they say held up an Elizabeth Wendy's at gunpoint last night.

Police responded to Wendy's located at 433 North Broad St. shortly before 8 p.m., for armed robbery, police said.

Upon arrival, the cashier told police she was facing away from the counter when someone said, "give me the [ profanity ] money." When she turned around, a man was pointing a black semi-automatic handgun, police said.

The cashier then called her manager, but the armed suspect made his way over the counter and demanded money.

According to reports, the man then grabbed a Wendy's bag and told cashier to empty her register. The suspect than hopped back over the counter and fled by foot towards Pennsylvania Avenue.

The suspect was described as light-skinned black man approximately 5'10 inches tall with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black boots.

It is unknown how much money was taken, police said. However, a witness told police that the suspect made off with 'a full bag of money'.

Investigators are examining prints left on the counter from the robber's boots.

It is not clear how many customers were in the restaurant during the robbery.

No injuries were reported.
