UPDATE VIDEO: ”I Called the Lockdown for Safety Concerns: Irvington High School Principal

Irvington Township Police are investigating an incident that occurred inside the high school that locked the secondary learning facility down for hours on Thursday.

According to police, the incident happened at around 9 a.m. where police received a call from school administrators reporting rumors of a student with a weapon.

Township Police, with the help of The Essex County Sheriff’s K9 Unit, searched the building up until noon and were not able to find a weapon according to Principal Dennis.

Parents who waited several hours outside the building for any type of answer regarding the situation were allowed to sign their children out for the day.

The incident remains under investigation.
