UPDATE: Vehicle Wanted for Fatally Striking NJIT Student Then Speeding from Scene

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II has announced that his office is asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run of an NJIT student.

Officials say on Tuesday, November 13, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Naomi R. Segura, 25, of Byram Township, was struck in the area of Central Avenue and Summit Street in Newark.

Officials say Segura died a short time later at University Hospital.

Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Investigations Bureaus have located surveillance cameras that indicate that the vehicle involved is an older model (1999-2004) red Jeep Cherokee.
