Update: Two Stabbed at Rutgers University in New Brunswick

Police have one person in custody after a double stabbing on Rutgers College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick.

Students received an alert sometime around 6:45 p.m. alerting them of a stabbing in the area of Mettler Dorm.

Officers at that time responded to reports of an aggravated assault near the dormitory were they found two people injured.

The victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Shortly after, a follow up alert was sent out advising students that a suspect was in custody.

No information was immediately available on the extent of the victims’ injuries or their identities.

The Rutgers University Police Department is actively investigating this incident and asks that anyone with information or why may have been in the area at the time, contact the Rutgers Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
