UPDATE: Two Loaded Weapons Recovered During Interrupted Armed Robbery by Newark Police

Police officials in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Shaquan M. Burr, 22 (left image), and Mr. Tajir Branch, 22, both of Newark, after police interrupted the suspects robbing a victim at Hobson Street and Bragaw Avenue Tuesday. 

 

According to Newark Police, just before 8:30 p.m., detectives observed a male lying on the ground and being assaulted with a handgun by a male suspect while a second suspect was removing the victim’s shoes. Gun

Upon becoming aware of police presence, both suspects ran, with Burr tossing a handgun and a vest he was wearing onto the street.

He was quickly apprehended.

Officials said Newark Police recovered the .9MM handgun, which was loaded.

Branch was arrested at the scene and was also found in possession of a loaded .9MM handgun.

Burr and Branch each face charges of conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
