Update: Two Elizabeth Officers Injured in Box Truck Crash

Two police officers responding to an assistance call, collided with a box truck, sending officers to the hospital authorities said.

According to police, a marked patrol unit, employing its emergency lights and sirens, was involved in a crash at the intersection of Trumbull Street and Bond Street a little after 3 p.m. Monday.

The police vehicle collided with a white Ford 2011 box truck registered out of Morristown authorities said.

The two officers were transported to University in Newark with what police described as minor injuries.

The driver of the box truck was not injured.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Elizabeth Police Department Traffic Bureau and the Union County Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
