Two people were killed and another resident was hospitalized following an early Sunday morning house fire in Jamesburg that remains under investigation.
According to information released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Jamesburg Police Chief Jason Muller, emergency crews responded to a residence on Front Street at approximately 1:02 a.m. on August 9 after receiving reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, first responders located a 39-year-old woman who was transported to Old Bridge Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said Sandra Dutcher, 67, of Jamesburg, was found inside the residence suffering from serious injuries.
She was transported from the scene but was pronounced dead while en route to the hospital.
A third resident was also located inside the home unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not immediately release that victim’s identity.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while responding to the blaze and were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Officials said a preliminary investigation indicates the fire does not appear to be suspicious, and foul play is not suspected at this time.
The cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
