The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed with RLS Media/Metro Breaking News that a woman and a child were killed in a crash that occurred in Newark's Downtown Sunday evening.
According to o a preliminary investigation, officials said **[the collision that involved three vehicles happened around 7 p.m.](https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/breaking-multiple-injuries-reported-downtown-newark-crash)** in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Broad Street.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene attempted to extricate multiple victims from the vehicles with one of the cars involved, overturned and severely damaged.
According to reports, about six victims were transported to the hospital, suffering severe injuries.
Police say the woman and child are not related.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
