UPDATE: Two Arrested After Newark Police Pursuit Ends in Crash

Newark

Police took two suspects into custody after a high-speed pursuit that ended in a collision in Newark's Central Ward Friday night.

According to police, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Newark officers patrolling the area of Irvine Turner Boulevard and Springfield Avenue observed an Audi Q7 that was wanted in connection with a recent shooting.

Authorities said police attempted a motor vehicle stop, but the driver disregarded the officers and led cops on a chase that ended in a collision -with another vehicle- at the intersection of Bergen Street and 14th Avenue.

Police say the suspects, a driver, and two passengers, bailed from the car and led officers on a brief foot pursuit through the neighborhood.

According to police, the crash victim was transported to University Hospital for pain treatment.

Both suspects were apprehended, but the third assailant remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing.
