Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Tyjihad Ellison, 21, of Newark, in connection with the assault of an elderly man on Friday, February 11.
Police said at approximately 10 a.m., police responded to Ferry Street near Merchant Street on a call of an injured person.
According to police, the suspect riding a skateboard punched a senior citizen who was walking in the area.
The victim was knocked unconscious and was transported to University Hospital for treatment. He is reportedly in stable condition.
Ellison, who reportedly has a mental illness, faces a charge of aggravated assault.
This charge is merely an accusation. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
