Two women were injured early Friday morning after gunfire erupted outside a home in Newarkâs South Ward and pierced the walls of the residence, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.

According to officials, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of Leslie Street at approximately 12:18 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found two women suffering from gunshot wounds.
Witnesses at the scene told RLS Media that bullets struck the home, hitting one woman as she lay in bed and another in the leg.
Police confirmed that one victim was shot in the hand, while the other sustained a leg injury.
Both women were transported to University Hospital, where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition.
Authorities also reported property damage to the home and surrounding area caused by the gunfire.
No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.
