New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the Garden State Parkway on Sunday evening.
According to state police officials, the crash was reported at 7:18 p.m. on the southbound local lanes of that Parkway at milepost 119.7 in Aberdeen Township, Monmouth County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Sentra was traveling south in local lanes and a Nissan Maxima was also traveling south in the local lanes.
According to the investigation, in the area of milepost 119.7, a same-direction sideswipe collision occurred between the Sentra and Maxima.
Police officials said that the Sentra ran off the road to the right, impacted a metal post, overturned and struck a tree.
As a result of the crash, the driver and two passengers of the Sentra sustained fatal injuries.
The identification of the driver and occupants are pending next of kin notification.
