UPDATE: Shooting Incident in Paterson Leaves One Dead and One Injured

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi have jointly announced a troubling incident that unfolded in the early hours of October 22, 2023.

At approximately 3:01 a.m., the Paterson Police Department received a distressing call reporting a shooting in the vicinity of Market Street and East 36th Street in Paterson.

Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene and discovered the first victim, a 32-year-old Paterson male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

He was promptly transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where his condition is currently stable.

Tragically, a second victim, yet to be identified, arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center separately in a private vehicle.

This victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The investigation into this distressing incident remains active and ongoing, with authorities diligently working to gather more details.
