UPDATE: Serious Injuries for 59-Year-Old Harrison Man Rescued From Building Fire

Harrison Town

A late-night fire that ignited inside a mixed usage building in Harrison sent one person to the hospital Saturday night.

According to a statement released by Lieutenant Dave Doyle of The Harrison Police Department, firefighters responded to 715 Harrison Avenue at 10 PM on a report of a working fire.

Lt. Doyle said, police and fire units arrived and immediately cleared Hinchy's (the bar on the first floor), and the apartments

above.

Officials say Harrison Fire Department personnel quickly rendered the scene safe and most of the damage was due to smoke. Lt. Doyle said authorities determined that the cause of the fire was unattended cooking.

A 59-year-old man suffered significant smoke inhalation and was transported to

the hospital in serious condition according to Lt. Doyle.

"At this time he is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit" Lt. Doyle said.
