UPDATE: Senior Man Dies in Carteret House Fire

Middlesex County officials announced today that authorities are investigating a fire in which one person perished.

Officials said yesterday evening, at approximately 4:51 P.M., authorities responded to 122 Lowell Street in Carteret following a report of a structure fire.  

Upon their arrival, first responders located Mark Levinzon, 75, of Carteret inside the residence. Levinzon was unresponsive and transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.  No firefighters or police officers were injured.
