A second 16-year-old student has been charged in connection with the April 8 stabbing at Fort Lee High School, according to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities said that on the day of the incident, Fort Lee Police responded to an emergency call reporting a stabbing at the high school.
Officers arrived to find a male student who had been stabbed several times.
The victim received immediate first aid from school staff and emergency responders before being taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries and ultimately survived.
The initial suspect, also a 16-year-old student, was apprehended at the scene. Investigators determined that the two students were involved in an altercation inside a school restroom when the stabbing occurred.
That suspect was charged with juvenile delinquency, including first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
Following further investigation, detectives identified a second student involved in planning and carrying out the attack.
On May 2, the second teen was taken into custody and charged with the same offenses as the first suspect: attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The student is currently being held at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center, awaiting a hearing in Family Court.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Fort Lee Police Department continuing to work closely on the case.
