UPDATE: Search Continues For Jersey City Gas Station Carjacker

Police are continuing their search for a violent male suspect who injured a person during a carjacking at a gas station in Jersey City on February 8th. 

According to Jersey City Police officials, it happened at approximately 3:40 a.m. at the Shell Gas Station in the 1000 block of Communipaw Avenue. 

Police were dispatched to the location to investigate reports of a carjacking in progress. 

Upon arrival, police met the owner of a 2007 Honda Odyssey, who reported that a male suspect had approached and carjacked their vehicle via strong arm. 

Police officials said it appeared no weapons were used, but during the carjacking, the suspect proceeded to hit the victim with the car before fleeing the scene on the bridge towards Kearny. 

No serious injuries were reported. 

According to Jersey City Police, at approximately 4:08 a.m. February 9th,  the vehicle was recovered by officers from The Essex County Sheriff's Department in Newark and returned to Jersey City Police. 

The investigation is ongoing.
