UPDATE: Red Cross Aids Residents After Fire Ravages East Orange Home

On Thursday afternoon, a raging fire engulfed a multifamily residence in East Orange, leading to the displacement of approximately 12 individuals.AdThe blaze, which erupted at 168 North 17th Street around 2:55 p.m., sent firefighters racing to the scene amid reports of heavy smoke billowing from the attic of the three-story, wood-framed building.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered intense flames and immediately set to work, deploying several hoses to combat the fire.

Despite the challenges posed by the fire, a thorough search of the premises revealed that all occupants had managed to escape unharmed.AdThe American Red Cross stepped in to offer crucial support to those affected.

Providing temporary housing, food, and clothing and addressing other urgent needs, the Red Cross ensured that the displaced residents received the immediate assistance required to navigate this difficult time.

While the fire's cause remains under investigation, the community said they are grateful for the swift response of emergency services and the compassionate aid provided by the American Red Cross.
