UPDATE: Police Search for Two Suspects Wanted for Armed Robbery of Newark Grocery Store

Police in Newark seeks the public's help in locating two suspects wanted for a violent armed robbery of a Newark South Ward grocery store on Sunday.

According to police, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police responded to the establishment located at 118 Bragaw Avenue -corner of Wainright Street-, on a robbery call.

Police said two males rushed inside the establishment and robbed the store’s attendant of cash while one of the suspects brandished an assault rifle before fleeing in a newer model silver 4-door vehicle that police believe is an Infiniti or Chrysler 300.

According to authorities, the first suspect wore a face mask and black skull cap, with a dark leather jacket featuring front zippers.

Police said the suspect also wore black stonewashed jeans and black and purple Jordan sneakers.

Police described the remaining suspect is as approximately 5’11 to 6’ tall with a medium build who wore a black and gray scarf over his mouth, a smoky gray ¾-length sweater with the word “Unlimited” on the back and down both sleeves, camouflage pants, and turquoise blue Nike sneakers.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
