Update: Police Investigate Two Separate Armed Robberies in Harrison

Police are investigation two robberies in Harrison that appear to have been carried out by the same men, leaving an 18-year-old man shot and a 41-year-old pistol whipped.

Police responded to the area of 38 South Fifth Street around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival police met with the 41-year-old victim who told the officers two men in their 20s robbed and pistol whipped him.

According to witness, two males were seen fleeing the area in a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee.

The victim - who suffered non-life threatening injuries - was transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Within minutes, police were called to the 10's block of Grant Avenue for a report of possible shots fired.

Responding officers were flagged down by the 18-year-old victim. He told police he had been shot once in the abdomen at close range.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was walking with three 17-year-old Harrison residents at the time of the robbery. The victim who reportedly resisted during the robbery was shot by one of the suspects.

He was transported to University Hospital in Newark where he is currently in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

The other three residents escaped unharmed, according to police.

At this time, it appears that the two men that robbed the four victims also fit the description of those who robbed the 41-year-old victim minutes before.
