Newark--Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting.
Police say on Saturday, May 16, Mr. Devante Perry, 28, of Newark was fatally shot in the 100 block of Avon Avenue.
Doctors pronounced Perry dead at 10:50 pm.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
The Prosecutor’s Office is seeking assistance from the public.
