Clifton

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Mark Centurione announce that on Saturday, police responded to the BP gas station located at 300 Route 3 in the City of Clifton in response to a report of an unresponsive male in a parked vehicle.

Authorities say upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Morad Awad, 24, seated behind the wheel of his Nissan Maxima which was parked at the gas station.

Police say Awad was recently homeless and slept in his car. Medical personnel pronounced Awad dead at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities say the initial investigation indicated that the wound was self-inflicted, however, the official manner of death will not be determined until an autopsy is performed sometime later this week.

Although the matter remains an active and ongoing criminal investigation, no suspects are being sought at this time and there is no danger to the public according to authorities.
