The safety of students in the Plainfield Public School District came into sharp focus following two unsettling incidents on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a violent altercation involving a Plainfield High School student at a local park resulted in a stabbing.

The injured student was quickly provided with medical assistance and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

The Plainfield Police Department is spearheading the investigation, and the school district is aiding them in their inquiries.

The second incident occurred at Cedarbrook K-8 Center around 2:50 p.m., where unknown individuals discarded a weapon in a dumpster within the school's grounds.

The administration, along with the Division of Safety and Security and the local police, acted swiftly to ensure everyone's safety.

The district confirmed that there was no immediate threat to the students or staff, praising the efficient response of their team.

Both incidents are under rigorous investigation by the Plainfield Police, in close coordination with the school district.

Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

The district has reassured parents and community members that they will be updated as investigations unfold.
