Elizabeth Police officials immediately knocked down rumors of a shooting that occurred at a mall in the city this afternoon.
According to a statement released to RLS Media by Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, a physical altercation erupted in the food court at around 2:25 p.m. sending shoppers scrambling after they heard a loud bang which came from chairs and tables falling over.
Out of the abundance of caution, fast responding police arrived, took control and ordered a shelter in place inside the mall according Spokeswoman Martins.
”The lockdown has since been lifted and business has resumed”, Martins said.
The cause of the fight is under investigation.
