UPDATE: Pequannock Man Fatally Struck by Car on Route 23 in Wayne

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff announce that at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday officers responded to the area of Route 23 North and the Royal Car Wash in the Township of Wayne in response to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

The motor vehicle, a 2018 Hyundai Tuscson was being operated by Danielle Cohen, 30 years old from Congers, New York, when she was traveling on Route 23 North at the time her vehicle struck the pedestrian, identified as Mr. Gavino Salazar, of Pequannock.

Police say Mr. Salazar suffered serious injuries and he was pronounced deceased at 7:32 p.m. Ms. Cohen remained at the scene of the collision.

No charges have been filed at this time, however this investigation remains active and ongoing.
