UPDATE: Pennsylvania Man Doing Auto Repair in Newark Struck, Killed by Vehicle

Essex County officials reported that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident which resulted in the death of Mr. Israel Olushola Adebayo, 56, of Easton, Pa.

Officials said the preliminary investigation indicates that on Friday, Oct. 1, at approximately 2:00 p.m. the victim was under his friend’s Nissan Altima doing automotive repairs on Somerset Street in Newark when the driver of a Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and struck the Nissan.

Officials said Adebayo was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m.

The driver of the Dodge Charger remained at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
