UPDATE: One Dead, One Injured in Plainfield Shooting

A fatal shooting in Plainfield that left one person dead and a second individual injured is under active investigation, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Department Officer-in-Charge David M. Guarino jointly announced Friday.

The deceased victim has been identified as Mr. Jasper Moss, 30, of Plainfield.

Homicide

Members of the Plainfield Police Department responding to the intersection of Pond Place and West Third Street in Plainfield shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday found Moss and a second adult victim at that location, both having sustained injury, according to the preliminary investigation.

Officials said both victims were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for emergency treatment, where Moss was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 p.m. 

The second victim remains in stable condition as of Friday evening.

Homicide

The investigation is being led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by members of the Plainfield Police Department, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
