UPDATE: Ocean County Authorities Identify Missing Swimmer

According to a press release sent by authorities, the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department received a report of a female swimmer in distress.

Officials said A 23-year-old male, identified as Thomas Kadlec, from Slovakia, reported that he and a 24-year-old woman, identified as Zuzana Oravcova also of Slovakia, went into the ocean.

Both parties were in distress, due to the high surf conditions. Kadlec was able to swim ashore, Oravcova did not according to the press release.

Police said Kadlec immediately notified an employee of the boardwalk who in turn reported the incident to the police department.

This department began a search of the area for the missing female.

Assisting in the search were the US Coast Guard, NJSP Marine Unit, the Fire Company and First Aid of Pt Pleasant Beach, Bay Head and Mantoloking Fire Companies, dive teams from Pt Pleasant Beach, Pt Pleasant, Brick, Brielle, and Manasquan as well as police officers from Bay Head and Mantoloking.

The search continued into the day light hours, using boats, a helicopter and ground crews. At this time, the female is still missing, and the search is continuing.

She has been entered NCIC as a missing person. Anyone with any information, contact the Post Point Pleasant Beach Police Department.
