UPDATE: NY Resident Wanted for Stealing His Repossessed Car From Newark West Ward Tow Yard

Police officials in Newark are reporting that an arrest warrant has been issued for Mr. Eugene K. Ohemeng, 28, of New York, who is wanted for stealing his repossessed Lexus from an impound lot on June 4. 

Officials said at approximately 5:50 a.m., Ohemeng was captured on surveillance video jumping over a brick wall and into the impound lot of Commercial Service Corporation, a repossession tow company located at 16 Whitney Street in Newark. 

Theft

According to Newark Police, the company repossessed Ohemeng’s vehicle, a 2018 Lexus GS, the day before on June 3 from West Orange.

It transported the vehicle, bearing license plate Z80-PBU, to the impound lot on Whitney Street. 

After Ohemeng was inside the lot, Newark Police officials said he entered his vehicle on and waited for employees to arrive at 6:45 a.m. 

When they opened the gate, he sped off.  

Police described Ohemeng as 5’9’’ and 155 pounds with brown eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion.
