UPDATE: Non-Life Threatening Injuries Reported for Newark Officer Struck by Car on Scooter

The driver of a car that struck and injured a police officer in Newark's Ironbound section stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

It happened on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Jackson and Ferry streets shortly before 1:40 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene said The Newark Police officer was on an electric scooter when it collided with a Honda Caravan operated by a male driver.

University Hospital EMS assists the officer at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
