UPDATE: NJ TRANSIT Bus Crashes on Atlantic City Expressway Causing Injuries

New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash that involved an NJ TRANSIT bus on a highway in Atlantic County on Tuesday morning.

According to state police officials, the crash occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on the Atlantic City Expressway westbound milepost 24.8 in Hamilton, Township in Atlantic County. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that NJ Transit Bus on Line 551 ran off the roadway to the right and impacted several trees. 

According to state police, the bus was occupied by nine passengers and the driver, who was entrapped as a result of the crash. 

State police officials said that Hammonton Fire Department arrived on the scene and extricated the driver from the bus with minor injuries. 

All injuries sustained in the crash were non-life-threatening. Two passengers were transported to AtlantiCare Mainland Hospital, and two passengers were transported to AtlantiCare City Hospital. 

The remaining passengers were transported from the scene by another NJ Transit Bus. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
