Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Louis Brown, 18, of Jackson Township, has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of his grandmother, 69-year-old Darlene Brown.

According to investigators, officers from the Jackson Township Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Justin Way at approximately 7 a.m. on May 18 after receiving a 911 call reporting that someone had been murdered.

When officers arrived, they encountered Louis Brown standing in the front doorway of the home.

Authorities said Brown exited the residence with his hands raised and was taken into custody without incident while officers investigated.

Police entered the home and discovered Darlene Brown deceased in an upstairs bedroom suffering from apparent stab wounds to her face and neck.

Investigators said two knives were found protruding from the victim.

A joint investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Jackson Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit determined that Louis Brown allegedly called 911 and was responsible for his grandmother’s death.
