NJ State Police officials have identified a child killed in a crash on a highway in Ocean County.
According to a statement released by state police, the crash occurred at 10:17 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway southbound at the 89A entrance ramp in Lakewood Township.
Officials said preliminary information indicated that a Volkswagen Passat was traveling on the 89A entrance ramp to the GSP south when it ran off the road to the left and overturned.
NJ State Police said passenger Jake Olivos, 9, of Beachwood, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
There were no other severe injuries reported.
