UPDATE: NJ Man Admits to Armed Bank Robbery of Over $25K

NJ authorities announced that a Monmouth County man admitted to armed bank robbery.

U.S. Attorney Alina Habba stated that Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 51, of Wall Township, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi on July 22, to a one-count Information charging him with armed bank robbery.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

NJ officials said that on October 23, 2024, Kniffin entered a bank in Wall Township, New Jersey, armed with a loaded handgun, approached a bank teller, and demanded cash from the teller.

After demanding the money, Kniffin removed the handgun from his pocket and displayed it towards the teller, according to NJ officials. 

During his interaction with the teller, NJ officials say, Kniffin instructed multiple times, “Don’t do anything stupid.”

Kniffin received approximately $27,072 in cash from the teller and then fled the bank, NJ authorities stated. 

NJ officials said he was apprehended and arrested by law enforcement several minutes later.

At the time of his arrest, law enforcement recovered from Kniffin and his immediate surroundings a loaded firearm and more than $25,000 in cash, according to NJ officials.

NJ officials stated that the count of armed bank robbery carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 24, 2025.
