The Essex County Prosecutor's has confirmed that a man found shot late Monday night in Newark's South Ward died in a Newark hospital Wednesday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 204 Seymour Avenue, sending police to the scene to investigate.
Units arrived and found a male victim suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead sometime this morning.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation.
No suspects have been apprehended at this time.
