UPDATE: Newark Shooting Kills Woman

Authorities are trying to determine who fired shots at a woman in Newark leaving her to die in the city's downtown early Friday morning.

According to a statement released by Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director, Anthony F. Ambrose, police are investigating the double shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

Police say, at approximately 12:36 a.m., Newark Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Hill and Court street.

Authorities said when police arrived on the scene, they discovered **Ms. Kelly A. Wiley, 27, of Newark** suffering gunshot wounds.

Wiley was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:02 a.m. according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Also, police say a 27-year-old male was but survived his injuries.

He was transported to University Hospital where he is in stable condition according to police.

"At this point in the investigation, no arrests have been made," authorities said.
